How long does epididymitis treatment take?
Disease description:
I’ve been experiencing severe pain over the past two days, and a hospital examination diagnosed me with epididymitis. My doctor recommended intravenous (IV) therapy, but I’m unable to take several days off work. I’d like to know how long epididymitis treatment typically takes.
Epididymitis typically requires approximately 20 days of treatment: intravenous infusion for about two weeks, followed by oral medication for approximately seven days to consolidate therapeutic effects. In severe cases, treatment duration may be extended. Inappropriate management may lead to orchitis, thereby increasing both the complexity and duration of treatment. Most cases of orchitis are caused by bacterial infection; therefore, identifying the underlying cause is essential to enable targeted therapy and prevent disease progression.
