Dr. Li Ping
Patients with gout may consume morels in moderation. Morels are classified as low-purine foods and do not significantly affect serum uric acid levels; thus, they are unlikely to trigger hyperuricemia or gout attacks. Based on purine content, foods are categorized into three groups: - Low-purine foods: containing less than 25 mg of purine per 100 g; - Moderate-purine foods: containing 25–150 mg of purine per 100 g; - High-purine foods: containing more than 150 mg of purine per 100 g. Patients with gout should first modify their lifestyle—specifically, abstaining from alcohol, limiting intake of high-purine foods, and favoring alkaline foods. Effective dietary management is strongly recommended for gout patients.
