Can people with gout eat carrots?
Disease description:
I personally love eating carrots, but I’ve recently experienced a gout flare-up, with discomfort in my legs and feet. I’d like to know: Can people with gout eat carrots?
Patients with gout may consume carrots and radishes. Neither carrots nor common radishes are high-purine foods, and thus are safe for gout patients to eat. It is recommended to drink plenty of water daily—aiming for a urine output of 2,000–3,000 mL—to promote uric acid excretion. Additionally, patients should engage regularly in physical exercise, maintain a healthy weight, adhere consistently to uric acid–lowering medication, and undergo regular monitoring of serum uric acid levels to keep uric acid within the target therapeutic range.
