Fruits That People with Gout Should Avoid
Disease description:
I personally love eating fruit, but ever since being diagnosed with gout, I’ve significantly restricted my diet. I’d like to know: which fruits should be avoided by people with gout?
Patients with gout must adhere to dietary restrictions. Sweeter fruits may adversely affect serum uric acid levels—for example, muskmelon, watermelon, and papaya contain relatively high sugar content, with approximately 10 g of sugar per 100 g. Therefore, these fruits should be consumed in moderation; large or excessive single servings are not recommended, as excessive fructose intake can negatively impact uric acid levels.
