What Causes Urinary Stream Splitting in Men, and How Is It Treated?
Disease description:
Recently, I’ve noticed that my urine stream has been splitting while urinating, which feels highly abnormal. What causes urinary stream splitting in men, and how should it be treated?
In general, urinary stream splitting in males is primarily caused by prostatitis. If this phenomenon occurs only occasionally and without other associated symptoms, observation alone is usually sufficient, as it often resolves spontaneously without requiring specific treatment. However, if urinary stream splitting occurs frequently and is accompanied by abnormal symptoms such as urinary frequency, urgency, or dysuria, prompt medical evaluation is necessary. Under a physician’s guidance, appropriate, culture-guided antibiotic therapy should be initiated.
