Why Do People Develop Cervical Erosion?

When I had my physical examination last week, the doctor diagnosed me with cervical erosion. I’m quite concerned and would like to know what causes cervical erosion.

Cervical ectropion is a physiological change influenced by estrogen levels in the body and is typically asymptomatic. Moderate cervical ectropion develops from mild cervical ectropion. Possible causes include untreated or inadequately treated vaginitis, leading to infection spreading to the cervix; alternatively, it may result from decreased immune function or poor personal hygiene.
