What should I do if I have excessive bleeding during my menstrual period?
Disease description:
I always experience very heavy bleeding during my period. Could you please advise what should be done if menstrual bleeding is excessive?
When menstrual bleeding is excessive, timely treatment with medication or surgery should be used to stop the bleeding. Medication-based treatment primarily involves hormonal drugs that regulate the endometrium, along with appropriate use of hemostatic agents to promote blood coagulation. Surgical treatment involves scraping away the endometrial lining to prevent prolonged bleeding from endometrial wounds. If heavy menstrual bleeding is caused by an intrauterine device (IUD), the IUD should be promptly removed to control bleeding. During menstruation, avoid eating raw, cold, or stimulating foods.
