Can people with high blood pressure eat grapefruit?
Disease description:
My father has symptoms of high blood pressure. I bought some grapefruit today, but I'm not sure if people with high blood pressure can eat grapefruit.
Grapefruit can be consumed by people with high blood pressure. Grapefruit is rich in trace elements, particularly high in potassium, which can help alleviate sodium and water retention in the body to a certain extent and assist in lowering blood pressure. Moreover, grapefruit contains abundant vitamin C, which helps reduce cholesterol levels in the blood, while its pulp can also lower blood glucose levels, all contributing to improvement of hypertension symptoms. However, during medication, it is advisable to eat little or none, as grapefruit can easily interact with antihypertensive drugs, affecting their efficacy. Therefore, caution is needed when consuming grapefruit.
