Patients with spleen deficiency typically present symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and edema. Spleen qi deficiency manifests as abdominal distension, reduced appetite, postprandial fullness, limb fatigue, shortness of breath, reluctance to speak, and either thinness or obesity with edema; the tongue appears pale with a white coating. Spleen yang deficiency is characterized by loose stools, poor appetite with abdominal distension, lingering abdominal pain, aversion to cold, timid demeanor, cold limbs, sallow complexion, edema, scanty urination, excessive leukorrhea, and a white greasy tongue coating.
