Etiology of chronic dacryoadenitis
Disease description:
Recently, my eyes have been uncomfortable, and I was told I have chronic dacryoadenitis. I don't know what causes chronic dacryoadenitis?
Chronic dacryocystitis is mostly primary in origin, but it can also develop from an acute form. Through a slow progressive course, the condition is usually bilateral. Primary infection may invade through the conjunctival sac via the lacrimal duct or spread hematogenously. Upper respiratory tract infections may precede the onset of symptoms, sometimes occurring epidemically with prominent systemic manifestations. Secondary infections often originate from systemic blood circulation or local infectious foci, spreading retrograde into the lacrimal gland tissue through lymphatic channels or the lacrimal drainage system, leading to inflammation of the lacrimal gland.
