What Causes Yellowish Skin?

Aug 03, 2021 Source: Cainiu Health
Disease description:

My skin condition hasn’t been very good over the past few days—I’ve noticed my complexion appears unusually yellowish. I’m usually quite diligent about skincare, so I’m concerned that this might indicate an underlying health issue. Could you please explain what might cause a yellowish discoloration of the skin?

Hello, increasing skin yellowness is primarily due to heightened production of brown or other dark pigments within the skin. Yellowing of the skin is also a sign of skin aging. As age advances, both intrinsic (natural) aging and extrinsic (photo-) aging progressively worsen; notably, photoaging plays a more significant role in inducing skin yellowing. We hope this information is helpful to you. Wishing you good health!
