Why does the anus itch after hemorrhoids have healed?

Anal itching after hemorrhoid recovery may be caused by various factors. On one hand, it could result from eczema following hemorrhoid treatment; repeated prolapse of internal hemorrhoids can lead to increased secretions, which chronically irritate the perianal skin and easily trigger eczema and itching. On the other hand, anal itching might also be a symptom of other conditions such as pruritus ani, anal fissures, perianal eczema, parasitic infections, or diabetes. These diseases may cause inflammation of the anal skin or neurological disturbances, leading to itching. Additionally, allergic reactions to topical ointments used for hemorrhoids, or poor hygiene practices resulting in residual urine or feces that irritate local anal tissues, could also contribute. If the itching persists or is accompanied by other symptoms, timely medical evaluation is recommended for further assessment of the condition.
