Can I eat durian if I have high blood sugar during pregnancy?
Disease description:
I am a pregnant woman who had gestational diabetes, but my blood sugar levels are now normal. I would like to buy some durian to eat. Is it okay to eat durian during pregnancy if I had high blood sugar?
Pregnant women with high blood sugar levels are not advised to eat durian, for the following reasons:
1. High sugar content: Durian contains approximately 25% to 28% sugar, making it a high-sugar fruit that can easily cause a rapid increase in blood glucose levels.
2. Impact on blood sugar control: For pregnant women who already have elevated blood sugar levels, eating durian may further complicate blood sugar management and may even trigger acute complications of diabetes, such as diabetic ketoacidosis.
3. Individual variation: Although individuals may differ in digestion and absorption of food, the high sugar content of durian is generally unfavorable for most pregnant women with high blood sugar levels.
It is recommended that pregnant women with high blood sugar avoid consuming durian. If blood sugar levels are within the normal range, consumption should still be strictly limited, and blood sugar levels should be monitored closely. At the same time, a balanced diet should be maintained, with a preference for low-sugar, high-fiber foods to help maintain stable blood sugar levels.
