Dr. Yang Ziqi
Patients with high uric acid levels are generally not advised to consume shiitake mushrooms, as these mushrooms contain relatively high levels of purines. Every 100g of shiitake mushrooms contains approximately 150mg—300mg of purines, exceeding the purine intake threshold of 150mg/100g that should be avoided by individuals with high uric acid levels. Long-term and excessive consumption of shiitake mushrooms may elevate blood uric acid concentrations, thereby worsening the condition of patients with high uric acid and potentially triggering acute gout attacks. Therefore, patients with elevated uric acid levels should try to avoid or reduce intake of high-purine foods in their daily diet, including shiitake mushrooms, organ meats, and seafood. Instead, they should increase consumption of low-purine foods such as fresh vegetables and fruits, and drink plenty of water to promote uric acid excretion. If necessary, patients should also follow medical advice for drug treatment and regular monitoring of uric acid levels.
