How long does it take to recover after laser mole removal?
I have undergone a laser mole removal procedure and would like to know the recovery time after laser mole removal.
Laser mole removal utilizes the photothermal effect of laser light, directly acting on the mole cells and surrounding tissue to achieve carbonization or cutting, thereby removing the mole. In general, the recovery time after laser mole removal varies depending on individual differences. Typically, smaller and shallower moles have shorter recovery periods, with the skin generally healing within 1-2 weeks; larger and deeper moles may require longer recovery times, ranging from 3-4 weeks or more.
After laser treatment, mild redness and swelling at the treated area are normal and should not be a cause for concern. Around one week post-treatment, a thin scab will form over the treated area. During this time, it is important to keep the wound clean and dry to prevent infection and avoid friction. After the scab naturally falls off, the skin will reveal a new coloration, although slight pigmentation may occur. This pigmentation typically fades gradually over the following weeks to months.
Following laser mole removal, patients should adhere to their physician's instructions, pay attention to postoperative care, and avoid infection to promote healing.
