I'm already 500 degrees myopic and have to wear thick-lensed glasses every day—it's so annoying! Is there still hope for my eyesight? Can it actually recover?

In general, myopia is irreversible, so a vision of -5.00 diopters cannot be restored to a non-myopic state. It is recommended to seek timely medical attention, allowing a professional ophthalmologist to develop the most suitable treatment plan based on individual circumstances.

However, if it has already progressed to true myopia, it is difficult to fully restore vision to normal. Myopia progression can only be controlled through scientifically appropriate eye usage and wearing suitable eyeglasses. Increasing outdoor activity time and avoiding prolonged near-eye work can also help control the progression of myopia, especially in adolescent patients.

If the myopia has stabilized and surgical conditions are met, patients may consider vision correction through laser surgery or implantable intraocular lens procedures. These surgical methods permanently alter the corneal shape or implant artificial lenses to achieve vision correction. However, surgery cannot eliminate the root cause of myopia; it simply corrects vision by altering the optical properties of the eye.

Although a -5.00 diopter level of myopia cannot be naturally reversed, good visual outcomes can be achieved through appropriate corrective methods and lifestyle adjustments, ultimately improving quality of life.
