How is cervical erosion diagnosed?

Sep 21, 2021 Source: Cainiu Health
Disease description:

I’ve been experiencing severe abdominal pain for the past couple of days, and my vaginal discharge has become abnormal—particularly increased in volume and accompanied by a foul odor. A friend suggested this might be due to cervical erosion. If it is indeed cervical erosion, what diagnostic tests should I undergo?

Hello, cervical erosion—also known as cervical ectropion—is clinically evaluated using colposcopy to assess the location and extent of the ectopic columnar epithelium. Since the cervical columnar epithelium has relatively low resistance to pathological changes, there is a potential risk of malignant transformation. Therefore, patients are advised to consult a gynecologist promptly for cervical ThinPrep cytology test (TCT) or cervical biopsy to accurately evaluate the condition. If precancerous changes are detected, timely surgical intervention under physician guidance is recommended. We hope this information is helpful to you. Wishing you good health and happiness!
