Facial abscesses (pus-filled bumps) may result from bacterial infection or overactive sebaceous glands. They can also be associated with certain skin disorders that compromise the skin’s protective barrier, as well as systemic conditions such as anemia, malnutrition, and chronic kidney disease. Poor facial hygiene—failing to keep the skin clean—can likewise contribute to their development. Importantly, facial abscesses should never be squeezed.
