Several of my close friends have told me that their breasts become tender or painful before their periods start, but I don’t experience this. Is breast tenderness or pain before menstruation normal?

In general, it is common for women to experience breast tenderness or discomfort before or during menstruation. This sensation is often attributed to benign breast conditions such as breast nodules, mastitis, or mammary gland hyperplasia—any of which may cause premenstrual breast tenderness. However, the absence of breast tenderness is also entirely normal and may indicate that the breasts are healthy.
