What medications are used to treat Ménière’s disease?
Disease description:
Doctor, I recently visited the hospital for dizziness and was diagnosed with Ménière’s disease. Could you please advise which medications are appropriate for treating Ménière’s disease?
Meniere’s syndrome is a common disorder that can cause dizziness, nausea, vomiting, vertigo, tinnitus, and hearing loss. A thorough evaluation by an otolaryngologist (ENT specialist) is essential to confirm the diagnosis. In most cases, patients present with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), which can be effectively treated with canalith repositioning maneuvers. Adjunctive pharmacotherapy may include oral betahistine tablets or difenidol tablets for symptom control. For nausea and vomiting, oral vitamin B6 may also be prescribed.
