Male-pattern hair loss is caused by excessive secretion of androgens in the body or, alternatively, by an individual’s heightened sensitivity to androgens due to constitutional factors. This condition can be treated with topical minoxidil tincture combined with oral finasteride tablets.

Increasing hair loss among young people—often triggered by high life and work stress, chronic sleep deprivation, and irregular eating habits—is becoming more common. Hair also tends to become oily more quickly. So, can androgenetic alopecia be cured?

Can Androgenetic Alopecia Be Cured?

Clinically, androgenetic alopecia can only be controlled—not cured. Male-pattern hair loss results either from excessive production of androgens (male hormones) in the body or from heightened individual sensitivity to androgens due to constitutional factors. This condition can be managed with topical minoxidil solution, combined with oral finasteride tablets. During treatment, it is advisable to supplement B vitamins—particularly vitamin B12 and vitamin B6.

In severe cases, male-pattern hair loss may lead to follicular necrosis. Once hair follicles die, they cannot regenerate, resulting in permanent hair loss. In such instances, hair regrowth in the affected areas is possible only through hair transplantation. Androgenetic alopecia arises from the combined effects of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and genetic predisposition. As long as androgens are present in the body, DHT will be produced; therefore, completely eliminating androgen production is neither feasible nor advisable.

If androgen levels decline, increasing intake of B vitamins—which support hormone synthesis—may help. Men undergoing andropause should consume iodine- and unsaturated fatty acid–rich seafood, such as fresh vegetables, kelp, and nori. Regular consumption not only promotes metabolism and aids weight management but also effectively lowers blood pressure and lipid levels.
