Introduction
The patient has developed a renal tumor requiring surgical removal. The severity primarily depends on the tumor’s nature: if it is a common benign tumor, it is generally not serious; however, if it is malignant, close attention is warranted, as it may impact life expectancy. Therefore, upon detection of a renal tumor, the patient should promptly visit the urology department of a reputable hospital for further evaluation, including contrast-enhanced CT and MRI of the kidneys.

In daily life, some individuals may develop renal tumors, a condition that can adversely affect overall health and cause significant anxiety. Should a renal tumor be surgically removed?

Should a renal tumor be surgically removed?

When a tumor is detected in the kidney, surgical removal is often necessary. The severity of the condition primarily depends on the tumor’s nature: benign tumors are generally not life-threatening, whereas malignant (cancerous) tumors require prompt attention, as they may significantly impact life expectancy. Therefore, upon detection of a renal tumor, patients should promptly visit the urology department of a reputable hospital for further evaluation—including contrast-enhanced CT and MRI scans—which together help determine whether the tumor is benign or malignant.

Minimally invasive surgery is commonly performed for such cases. Currently, laparoscopic partial or radical nephrectomy allows for complete and precise tumor excision. Postoperatively, histopathological examination definitively determines whether the tumor is benign or malignant. If confirmed benign, no further treatment is typically required. However, if pathology confirms a malignant renal tumor, adjuvant therapy—such as immunotherapy or targeted therapy—is recommended following surgical resection to effectively reduce the risk of recurrence.

During recovery, ensure adequate sleep and schedule regular follow-up visits to monitor disease progression and prevent worsening. Avoid foods that may exacerbate the condition; instead, consume fresh fruits and vitamin-rich foods. We hope this information proves helpful!
