Introduction
Acute hypertension is a life-threatening condition primarily triggered by various stress factors, leading to organ dysfunction and a sudden, extreme rise in blood pressure. Patients with acute hypertension may experience discomfort symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and severe headache, and must immediately rest in bed, remain calm, and avoid stimulation. Blood pressure should be measured promptly, antihypertensive medications taken as needed, and blood pressure changes closely monitored.

In daily life, acute hypertension has a relatively high incidence. How can acute hypertension be relieved?

How to relieve acute hypertension

Acute hypertension is a life-threatening condition, primarily triggered by various stress factors, leading to organ dysfunction and a sudden, extreme rise in blood pressure. Patients may experience symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and severe headache. Immediate bed rest in a quiet environment, avoiding any stimulation, is essential. Blood pressure should be measured promptly, antihypertensive medications taken as needed, and blood pressure closely monitored. Elevating the head of the bed by 30 degrees may help achieve postural hypotension to reduce blood pressure.

Acute hypertension, also known as hypertensive emergency, refers to a sudden and severe increase in blood pressure—typically exceeding 180/120 mmHg—in patients with hypertension, accompanied by acute damage to vital target organs such as the heart, brain, and kidneys, posing a serious threat to life. Common causes include heightened sympathetic nervous system activity, acute kidney injury, and vascular emergencies. Typical signs and symptoms include pallor, agitation, excessive sweating, palpitations, papilledema, cerebrovascular accidents, and intense headaches. Once diagnosed with hypertensive emergency, immediate emergency treatment is required: establishing intravenous access, elevating the head of the bed, strict bed rest, oxygen supplementation, intravenous administration of antihypertensive drugs, and continuous monitoring of electrocardiogram and vital signs, with particular attention to the function of critical organs including the heart, brain, and kidneys.

Acute hypertension requires prompt management to prevent worsening of the condition. I hope this response is helpful to you. Wishing you good health and happiness!
