I've taken two bottles of Feili Ke, but my cough still hasn't improved.
After taking two bottles of Feili Ke, the cough has not improved. This may be due to an allergic reaction to one or more ingredients in Feili Ke, a mismatch between the nature of the patient's cough and the indications for Feili Ke, or underlying medical conditions that render the medication ineffective. It is recommended to seek timely medical evaluation for accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
1. Allergic Reaction
Feili Ke contains main ingredients such as Ficus radicata (Wutong root), Gentiana rigescens (Honghua longdan), Commelina diffusa (Hongguancao), Peucedanum praeruptorum (Qianhu), Stemona tuberosa (Bai Bu), and Scutellaria baicalensis (Huang Qin). Some patients may be allergic to one or more of these herbal components, which could trigger asthma or worsen coughing.
2. Inappropriate Medication Use
Feili Ke syrup has effects of clearing heat, detoxifying, relieving cough, and expelling phlegm, but its properties are relatively cold. If the patient’s cough is due to cold pathogen (cold-type cough), using cold-natured, heat-clearing medications like Feili Ke syrup may exacerbate both the cough and the underlying cold condition, making it appear ineffective.
3. Underlying Medical Conditions
Cough caused by pre-existing diseases such as malignant tumors, cor pulmonale, or tuberculosis may not respond well to Feili Ke syrup. In fact, inappropriate use may allow the underlying condition to progress further.
Patients with persistent cough should promptly visit a hospital for proper diagnosis and follow medical guidance when taking medications. Feili Ke syrup should only be used under a doctor’s supervision based on proper pattern differentiation—avoid self-medicating without professional advice.
