Introduction
Large feet in newborns may be caused by non-disease factors such as congenital heredity, or may result from medical conditions such as edema or gigantism. It is recommended to promptly complete relevant examinations and, under a doctor's guidance, choose appropriate treatments—such as medication or surgery—based on the newborn's individual condition. If the newborn experiences other accompanying symptoms, prompt medical attention is advised.

Large feet in newborns may be caused by non-disease factors such as congenital heredity, or may result from medical conditions such as edema or gigantism. It is recommended to promptly complete relevant examinations and, under a doctor's guidance, choose appropriate treatments such as medication or surgery based on the individual condition of the newborn.

1. Heredity

A parent's body size and stature can be genetically passed down to their offspring. If both parents have large feet, the newborn may also have relatively large feet. This situation is not caused by disease and is considered normal. There is no need for excessive concern or special treatment.

2. Edema

Large feet in newborns may also be due to edema, which could result from malnutrition leading to anemia or renal insufficiency. Newborns with edema-related foot enlargement may also show swelling in other areas such as the face and perineum. If the edema is caused by malnutrition, it is recommended to feed the newborn at regular intervals and proper quantities, and under medical supervision, use nutritional supplements such as vitamin AD drops or ferrous lactate oral solution.

3. Gigantism

Gigantism in newborns, caused by genetic mutations or brain tumors, may present with large feet. Affected newborns may also exhibit facial changes such as prominent brow ridges and thickened lips and tongue. Treatment for gigantism in newborns should be conducted under a doctor’s guidance using medications such as bromocriptine mesylate tablets or cyproheptadine hydrochloride tablets. If medical evaluation confirms that the gigantism is caused by a pituitary tumor, surgical intervention will be required. Common surgical procedures include transsphenoidal microscopic pituitary tumor resection and craniotomy for pituitary tumor removal.

If a newborn exhibits large feet, prompt medical consultation is advised. After completing necessary examinations, if an underlying condition is diagnosed, timely and targeted treatment should be initiated under a doctor's supervision.
