What causes abdominal pain and bloating around the navel?
Umbilical bloating and pain may be caused by factors such as improper diet, appendicitis, or umbilical hernia. It is recommended to visit a hospital for examination to determine the exact underlying cause.
1. Improper Diet
Overeating, eating too quickly, consuming spicy, cold, or gas-producing foods, or eating unhygienic food can lead to intestinal spasms, potentially causing symptoms such as umbilical bloating and pain, abdominal distension, nausea, and vomiting.
2. Appendicitis
When the appendix lumen becomes blocked, the appendix mucosa continues to secrete mucus, increasing pressure within the appendix. This impairs blood flow and may trigger or worsen appendicitis. Additionally, if the appendix mucosa is damaged, allowing bacterial invasion, appendicitis may develop, leading to symptoms such as umbilical bloating and pain, nausea, and vomiting.
3. Umbilical Hernia
Umbilical hernias are primarily associated with weak tissues around the navel, developmental defects in the umbilical ring that fail to close properly, or chronically increased intra-abdominal pressure. These factors can result in a bulge at or near the navel, along with symptoms such as abdominal distension and umbilical bloating and pain.
