Be Alert to Four Possible Causes of Swelling and Pain in the Back and Rib Areas
There is generally no recognized concept of "four causes" to be wary of; distending pain in the back and rib areas may result from muscle strain, trauma, intercostal neuralgia, or other reasons. The specific cause requires a detailed medical examination at a hospital, followed by appropriate treatment based on the underlying condition.
1. Muscle Strain
Pain and distension in the back and rib areas may be caused by muscle strain, primarily due to prolonged overexertion leading to local muscle injury and aseptic inflammation, which results in localized pain. Under a doctor's guidance, anti-inflammatory and analgesic medications such as aspirin or loxoprofen sodium tablets may be used for treatment.
2. Trauma
Pain in the back and rib areas may occur if the body has suffered external impact, causing bone contusion or even fractures in the ribs, resulting in pain. A radiographic examination at a hospital is necessary. For bone contusions, medications such as flurbiprofen plasters or ibuprofen capsules may be used under medical supervision. In cases of rib fractures, surgical intervention such as laparotomy may be required.
3. Pleuritis
Distending pain in the back and rib areas could also be due to pleuritis. Inflammation irritating local nerves can lead to pain symptoms. Treatment may include medications such as amoxicillin capsules or aspirin tablets, used under a doctor’s direction.
In addition, distending pain in the back and rib areas might stem from pathological changes in the ribs, such as intercostal neuralgia or costochondritis. Any persistent pain in these areas should be actively evaluated and treated.
