Should you take a shower after morning jogging in summer?
After morning jogging in summer, it is usually necessary to take a shower.
Due to the hot weather in summer, the sympathetic nervous system becomes highly active during morning runs, accelerating metabolism and blood circulation, which leads to increased sweating. Sweat contains salts and water, and may also mix with dust from the air. If not washed off promptly, sweat remaining on the skin surface for prolonged periods can clog pores and potentially lead to bacterial infections. Inflammatory factors may then continuously spread within the body, negatively affecting health. Therefore, taking a shower after morning jogging is generally recommended.
However, it's not advisable to shower immediately after exercise. After physical activity, pores are dilated and both heart rate and blood pressure remain elevated. Showering right away may hinder the body’s ability to eliminate toxins. Additionally, under the influence of heat, it could lead to insufficient blood supply and even cause fainting. It is recommended to wait between half an hour to one hour after jogging before taking a shower.
