Introduction
Loss of taste along with nasal congestion may be caused by rhinitis, allergies, nasal tumors, or other conditions, and treatment should be based on the specific underlying cause. Rhinitis is primarily an inflammation of the nasal mucosa triggered by bacteria, allergens, viruses, and similar agents. When affected, patients may experience sneezing, runny nose, and nasal itching, and may also develop nasal congestion and loss of taste.

Loss of taste along with nasal congestion may be caused by rhinitis, allergies, nasal tumors, or other conditions, and different treatment approaches should be adopted depending on the specific cause. It is recommended to seek medical attention at a hospital as early as possible to determine the underlying cause and receive prompt treatment.

1. Rhinitis

Rhinitis is mainly caused by inflammation of the nasal mucosa due to bacteria, allergens, viruses, and other factors. Symptoms include sneezing, runny nose, and nasal itching. It may also lead to nasal congestion and loss of taste. Under a doctor's guidance, patients can take medications such as Tongqiao Biyan tablets or Biyan Kang tablets.

2. Allergies

Individuals with allergic constitutions may, upon exposure to allergens, release histamine-like substances in the body, which can irritate the mouth and nasal passages, causing nasal mucosal congestion and swelling. This leads to narrowed nasal passages, while taste receptors in the mouth may also be affected, resulting in diminished or absent taste during eating. During treatment, a light diet is recommended, and spicy or irritating foods should be avoided. Medications such as budesonide nasal spray or mometasone furoate nasal spray can be used under medical supervision.

3. Nasal Tumors

Nasal tumors, as they grow larger, can cause swelling and blockage in the nasal cavity, affecting the nerves responsible for smell and taste, thereby leading to loss of taste. In such cases, timely surgical removal is necessary.
