Four Major Hazards of Anteverted Uterus
Anterior uterine position may lead to various complications such as difficulty in menstrual blood discharge, reduced fertility, worsened inflammation, or placenta previa.
1. Difficulty in Menstrual Blood Discharge
Some individuals not only have an anteverted uterus, but also a forward-tilted cervix, creating an angle that makes it difficult for menstrual blood to flow out during menstruation. This can result in poor menstrual discharge, significantly reduced menstrual flow, and may also cause dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation).
2. Reduced Fertility
A simple anteverted uterus is actually favorable for conception. However, if combined with cervical anteversion, it may reduce fertility. Compared to isolated uterine anteversion, conceiving may become more difficult when the cervix is also tilted forward.
3. Worsened Inflammation
Women with an anterior uterine position may experience milder symptoms when uterine inflammation occurs, making it less noticeable. As a result, they might not recognize the early signs of discomfort. By the time the inflammation becomes severe enough to be detected, valuable treatment time may already have been lost, negatively affecting overall health and daily life.
4. Placenta Previa
An anterior uterine position may increase the risk of placenta previa, raising the likelihood of bleeding during late pregnancy and posing serious threats to the safety of both mother and baby.
Women who wish to determine their uterine position can undergo a B-ultrasound examination. It's important to inform the doctor about any relevant medical history to avoid affecting diagnostic accuracy. It is recommended to maintain a light, nutritious, and easily digestible diet, while avoiding raw, cold, spicy, or irritating foods.
