Can lack of sleep cause nosebleeds?
Sleep deprivation often leads to nosebleeds.
Lack of sleep can easily put the body in a state of fatigue, weakening the immune system. When immunity is low, the body becomes more susceptible to bacterial and viral infections, which may trigger inflammation of the nasal mucosa, causing congestion and swelling. Since the nasal cavity contains numerous capillaries, these small blood vessels may rupture when congested and swollen, resulting in nosebleeds. Additionally, sleep deprivation can disrupt endocrine function, leading to internal heat buildup ("fire" in traditional terms), which dries out and damages the nasal mucosa, making bleeding more likely.
Nosebleeds are usually self-limiting, but it's important in daily life to get adequate rest, ensure sufficient sleep, drink plenty of water, and promote metabolism.
