Introduction
If a patient's head swelling after a bump is not severe, symptoms can be relieved with general treatment. It is recommended that the patient apply a cold compress to the affected area within 24 hours of injury by wrapping an ice pack in a towel to prevent enlargement of the hematoma. If significant swelling persists beyond 24 hours, apply a warm towel to the affected area to promote faster resolution of the hematoma. Medications such as Zhongtongan capsules, acetaminophen tablets, and loxoprofen sodium tablets may also be taken.

If a patient's head becomes swollen after a bump and brain lesions have been ruled out through examinations such as head CT or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), the swelling can be treated using general measures, medications, and other methods.

1. General Treatment

If the head injury is not severe, general treatment may help relieve the swelling. It is recommended that the patient apply a cold compress—using a towel-wrapped ice pack—to the affected area within the first 24 hours after injury to prevent further enlargement of the hematoma. If significant swelling persists beyond 24 hours, applying a warm towel to the area can help promote absorption and reduce the swelling more quickly.

2. Medication

If general treatment does not provide effective relief, further management with medications may be necessary. Under a doctor's guidance, patients may take medications such as Zhongtongan capsules, acetaminophen tablets, or loxoprofen sodium tablets to reduce swelling, relieve pain, and support recovery.

Note: Symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, and vomiting are often abnormal and should prompt immediate medical evaluation. Further hospital examination is required, and treatment should be based on the underlying cause.
