What causes upper body pain?
Upper body pain is generally caused by muscle strain, exposure to cold, cervical spondylosis, or other reasons. It is important to seek timely medical evaluation and receive appropriate treatment based on the underlying cause.
1. Muscle Strain
Prolonged heavy physical labor in daily life often leads to muscle strain. Common symptoms include upper body pain, swelling, and restricted movement. If symptoms are mild, massage may help alleviate them. For more severe cases, oral medications such as aspirin capsules or diclofenac sodium tablets should be taken under a doctor's guidance.
2. Cold Exposure
If proper warmth is not maintained in daily life, the body may become chilled, causing muscle stiffness and resulting in upper body pain. Applying heat packs can help relieve discomfort, and adequate保暖 (warmth protection) should be maintained routinely.
3. Cervical Spondylosis
Cervical spondylosis is usually caused by prolonged neck bending or trauma. In more severe cases, it may compress surrounding nerves, leading to pain in the upper body. Prompt medical evaluation with MRI is necessary. After identifying the cause, surgical intervention may be required to relieve nerve compression.
In addition, ankylosing spondylitis can also cause upper body pain. Avoid prolonged standing or sitting whenever possible.
