Introduction
If a biopsy is performed on a nodule, the tissue sample obtained during the biopsy will be examined pathologically, and it usually takes three working days to receive the pathology report. For large specimens from surgical resection of pulmonary nodules, pathological examination typically requires five working days. For some patients who require immunohistochemistry and molecular pathology testing, it may take 7 to 10 working days to obtain the pathology report.

The time required to obtain a pathological report for a lung nodule varies depending on the specific circumstances.

If a biopsy is performed by needle puncture, the tissue sample obtained is then examined pathologically, and it usually takes about three working days to receive the pathology report. However, if the pathological examination is conducted on a large specimen after surgical resection of the lung nodule, it typically takes five working days. For some patients who require additional immunohistochemistry or molecular pathology testing, it generally takes 7 to 10 working days to receive the final pathology report.

Lung nodules may develop due to inflammatory or non-inflammatory causes and often involve the epidermis, dermis, or subcutaneous tissues. The pathological report can specify whether the nodule is benign or malignant.
