Introduction
Differences between nasal polyps and nasal cancer: Nasal polyps are benign tumors in the nasal cavity, while nasal cancer is a malignant tumor. Nasal polyps usually occur in areas such as the ethmoid sinus and middle nasal turbinate; nasal cancer typically develops in the upper posterior wall or lateral regions of the nasopharynx. The former causes mucosal edema within the nose and produces excessive secretions; the latter leads to nasal obstruction and runny nose, and when it affects other organs, it may easily result in hearing impairment.

Nasal polyps and nasal cancer differ in terms of pathology, site of occurrence, and symptoms.

1. Different Pathology

Nasal polyps are benign growths within the nasal cavity; nasal cancer is a malignant tumor.

2. Different Sites of Occurrence

Nasal polyps usually develop in areas such as the ethmoid sinuses and middle nasal turbinate. Nasal cancer typically occurs in the upper or lateral regions of the posterior wall of the nasopharynx.

3. Different Symptoms

The former commonly causes prolonged mucosal edema inside the nose, leading to excessive secretions, and may result in snoring or breathing difficulties during sleep due to obstruction by the polyps. In the early stages, the latter presents with symptoms such as nasal congestion and runny nose. As the disease progresses and affects other organs, it may lead to hearing impairment, blurred vision, headaches, and other symptoms.

In addition, the treatment approaches for the two conditions also differ. Whether it is nasal polyps or nasal cancer, patients should undergo thorough examinations at a hospital and receive appropriate treatment under medical guidance.
