What should a woman do if her feet are cold?
Women's cold feet can be treated according to the underlying causes, which commonly include deficiency of qi and blood, cold-damp constitution, and excess yin with deficient yang.
1. Deficiency of Qi and Blood
Since the feet are part of the peripheral circulation system, insufficient blood supply due to poor circulation of qi and blood in the body may easily lead to symptoms such as coldness and dampness in the feet. It is recommended to take herbal medicines such as Ba Zhen Tang (Eight-Ingredient Decoction), Shi Quan Da Bu Wan (Decoction for Complete Tonification), or Ren Shen Yang Rong Wan (Ginseng Nourishing Pill) under a doctor’s guidance to replenish qi and blood and improve symptoms.
2. Cold-Damp Constitution
Regular consumption of raw, cold, or irritating foods, or prolonged exposure to cold and damp environments, may allow cold pathogens to enter the body, resulting in cold feet. It is recommended to take medications such as Bu Zhong Yi Qi Wan (Spleen-Qi-Tonifying and Energy-Benefiting Pills), Si Jun Zi Wan (Four Gentlemen Pills), or Fu Zi Li Zhong Wan (Processed Aconite Rectifying the Middle Pills) under medical supervision to warm the body and dispel cold, thereby improving symptoms.
3. Excess Yin with Deficient Yang
When yin energy in the body is excessive and yang energy is weak, there may not be enough yang energy to warm the entire body, leading to cold extremities. It is recommended to take herbal formulas such as Jin Kui Shen Qi Wan (Kidney Qi Pills from the Golden Cabinet), Gui Fu Di Huang Wan (Cinnamon and Aconite Rehmannia Pills), or Fu Zi Li Zhong Wan under a doctor’s guidance to regulate the body balance and relieve symptoms.
In addition, cold feet may also result from liver qi stagnation. For accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment, it is advisable to consult a qualified physician at a hospital for individualized evaluation and management.
