There are several types of chickenpox vaccines.
There are generally two types of varicella vaccines: live attenuated varicella vaccine and freeze-dried live attenuated varicella vaccine. After vaccination, they primarily stimulate the body to produce immunity against the varicella virus. Specific details are as follows:
1. Live attenuated varicella vaccine
The main component is live attenuated varicella virus. Before use, sterile water for injection should be added according to the instructions, mixed thoroughly by shaking, and then administered. The injection method is subcutaneous, typically given at the lower edge of the deltoid muscle on the outer side of the upper arm.
2. Freeze-dried live attenuated varicella vaccine
This vaccine is prepared by inoculating human diploid cells with an attenuated strain of varicella-zoster virus. The virus fluid harvested after cell culture is then freeze-dried with suitable stabilizers. Prior to administration, an appropriate amount of the provided sterile water for injection must be added. The vaccine should be fully dissolved, shaken well, and uniformly mixed before use. The method and site of administration are the same as those for the live attenuated varicella vaccine.
Regardless of which type of varicella vaccine is administered, proper local care at the injection site is required after vaccination.
