How to treat persistent fever in liver cancer patients
Fever refers to an elevated body temperature. Persistent fever in liver cancer patients can be improved through physical cooling, medication, surgery, and other methods. Specific analyses are as follows:
1. Physical Cooling
Liver cancer patients often develop fever due to liver damage. If body temperature does not exceed 38.5°C, physical cooling methods may be used for improvement. For example, wiping the armpits, groin, and other areas with lukewarm water, and drinking more warm water can accelerate metabolism and help reduce fever.
2. Medication
If body temperature exceeds 38.5°C, antipyretic medications should be used under a doctor's guidance. Medications such as diclofenac sodium sustained-release tablets and ibuprofen sustained-release capsules contain ingredients that inhibit the synthesis of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), reduce PGE2 release, alleviate inflammatory responses, and decrease stimulation of the body's temperature regulation center, thereby lowering body temperature.
3. Surgery
In some patients, fever is caused by severe liver damage. In such cases, treatment must target the underlying disease, such as undergoing hepatectomy or liver transplantation.
Besides the above methods, treatments such as interventional therapy and radiotherapy may also be used. Patients with persistent fever require comprehensive examination and evaluation to determine the cause and formulate an appropriate treatment plan.
