How to Use a Blood Glucose Meter
A blood glucose meter is used for measuring and monitoring blood sugar levels. It is recommended to use the blood glucose meter under the guidance of a doctor. The specific operating steps are as follows:
1. Install the test strip: Take out the blood glucose meter and insert the blood collection test strip into the test strip slot with the electrode facing upward, until a droplet-shaped pattern appears on the display.
2. Disinfection: Use a cotton swab dipped in an appropriate amount of alcohol to disinfect the blood collection site, then dry the area thoroughly with a clean, dry cotton swab to remove any residual alcohol.
3. Blood collection: Use a lancet to prick the blood collection site. Wipe away the first drop of blood, then use the test strip to absorb the second drop of blood. After a few seconds, the blood glucose meter will automatically display the reading.
4. Cleanup: Remove the used test strip and properly dispose of or store the used instruments.
When using a blood glucose meter, store the lancets and test strips in a clean, dry place to prevent them from being compromised.
