Generally, a port-a-cath is a safe, closed intravenous access device implanted in the human body, known for its safety and convenience. Since it is implanted internally, there will be a surgical wound that requires regular dressing changes. The specific procedure is as follows:

1. Position the patient in a supine position and expose the port-a-cath puncture site.

2. Remove the original dressing. If the inner layer of the dressing adheres to the wound, moisten it first with normal saline before gently removing it with forceps.

3. Disinfect the skin surrounding the port-a-cath wound using medical alcohol or iodophor.

4. After disinfection, dry the wound area with sterile gauze, then cover it with a sterile dressing or gauze.

To avoid harm to the body, it is recommended to change the dressing under a doctor's guidance to reduce the risk of infection. Maintain good daily habits and avoid consuming spicy or irritating foods, which may impair recovery.
