Rash in the underwear area
Rashes in the underwear area may be caused by miliaria (heat rash), contact dermatitis, eczema, etc., and timely medical treatment at a hospital is necessary. Specific causes are as follows:
1. Miliaria (Heat Rash)
During hot summer months, if patients wear underwear that is not breathable or prevents sweating, the stratum corneum may become soaked or swollen, resulting in small blisters or papules accompanied by itching. Under a doctor's guidance, topical medications such as mupirocin ointment or calamine lotion can be applied for treatment.
2. Contact Dermatitis
Contact with allergens such as rubber or animal fur may trigger contact dermatitis, causing red rashes along with pain. Under a doctor’s direction, treatment may include topical application of triamcinolone acetonide/econazole cream or oral administration of methylprednisolone tablets.
3. Eczema
Eczema may be triggered by factors such as emotional changes, endocrine disorders, or infections, manifesting as millet-sized papules or small blisters on a red base. Under medical supervision, topical treatments such as desonide cream or tacrolimus ointment can be used.
In addition to the above causes, rashes may also result from vulvitis, scrotal inflammation, tinea cruris (jock itch), etc. It is important to wear loose, comfortable clothing, preferably made of cotton.
