Introduction
Thick and stagnant bile may be caused by physiological factors, or it may be related to pathological conditions such as bile duct stones and viral hepatitis. It can be improved through general management, medication, or surgical treatment. In addition, it could also result from conditions such as cholangiocarcinoma, cholangiolar hepatocellular carcinoma, or peripancreatic ampullary cancer. It is recommended to seek timely medical evaluation at a hospital to determine the underlying cause and receive appropriate, standardized treatment.

Thickened bile accumulation may be caused by physiological factors, or it may be related to pathological conditions such as bile duct stones and viral hepatitis. It can be improved through general management, medication, or surgical treatment. Specific analysis is as follows:

I. Physiological Factors

If a person engages in prolonged excessive dieting and weight loss, the gallbladder tissue may lack adequate stimulation from food, leading to concentration of bile within the gallbladder and resulting in thickened bile. This is usually a normal phenomenon, and attention should be paid to developing healthy eating habits.

II. Pathological Factors

1. Bile Duct Stones

If the stones are large, they may block the bile ducts, causing poor bile drainage and subsequent bile accumulation. Endoscopic stone removal via duodenoscope can be performed to remove all stones and relieve biliary obstruction.

2. Viral Hepatitis

Viral hepatitis may impair liver function, thereby affecting bile secretion and excretion, leading to bile accumulation. Under medical guidance, medications such as entecavir dispersible tablets or tenofovir alafenamide fumarate tablets may be used for treatment.

In addition, bile duct cancer, cholangiocarcinoma, or peripancreatic ampullary carcinoma may also cause this condition. It is recommended to seek timely medical evaluation at a hospital, identify the underlying cause, and receive standardized treatment accordingly.
