Video of the entire hysteroscopic procedure for uterine fibroids
Generally, uterine fibroids are benign tumors formed by the proliferation of uterine smooth muscle tissue and can be effectively removed via hysteroscopic surgery. The specific procedure is as follows:
1. Position the patient in the lithotomy position and administer general anesthesia.
2. Disinfect the external genitalia, vagina, and cervical os with iodophor, insert a speculum to expose the cervical os.
3. Insert the hysteroscope through the vagina into the uterine cavity to visualize the fibroids within the uterine cavity.
4. After confirming the location of the fibroid, place the resecting loop behind the lesion, then retract the loop into the sheath while simultaneously resecting the pedicle of the fibroid using electrosurgical energy.
5. Use a suction curette to remove fragmented tissue; repeat the procedure until all targeted fibroids are resected.
6. At the end of the procedure, withdraw the hysteroscope.
After hysteroscopic surgery for uterine fibroids, patients should rest adequately, avoid sexual intercourse and tub baths for one month, maintain a light diet, and monitor vaginal bleeding. If heavy or prolonged bleeding occurs, prompt medical attention is required. This procedure should be performed at a reputable hospital by qualified medical professionals.
