Introduction
Foods that nourish the stomach: Diet should primarily consist of warm, soft, easily digestible, nutrient-rich, low-residue foods. Foods beneficial for gastric health—such as red dates, steamed buns, congee, Chinese yam, and sweet potatoes—should be consumed regularly. Fresh vegetables and fruits should also be included frequently in the diet, while coarse, spicy, or excessively hot foods must be avoided. Patients with poor gastric function should maintain regular mealtimes and avoid overeating, consuming spicy or raw/cold foods, or eating foods that are difficult to digest.

Foods that support gastric health: The stomach is a vital organ responsible for food storage and digestion. To maintain gastric health, one should primarily focus on regular, balanced, and nutritious eating habits.

Meals should be taken at consistent times—neither skipping meals nor overeating—and binge eating must be avoided. Nutritional balance is essential; avoid picky or selective eating due to personal taste preferences. Opt for warm, soft, easily digestible, nutrient-rich, low-residue foods. Beneficial gastric-supportive foods include red dates (jujubes), steamed buns, congee (rice porridge), Chinese yam, and sweet potatoes. Consume ample fresh vegetables and fruits, while avoiding coarse, spicy, or excessively hot foods.

Individuals with compromised gastric function should adhere strictly to regular mealtimes and avoid overeating, spicy or irritating foods, raw or cold foods, and overly hard or indigestible items. Smoking and alcohol consumption should be discontinued to minimize irritation to the gastric mucosa, and salt intake should be reduced. Additionally, engaging in appropriate physical activity enhances nutrient absorption and utilization, and also strengthens the spleen and stomach functions.
