Introduction
Influenza refers to the flu. Generally, if the influenza virus attacks the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract, vomiting may occur; however, if the influenza virus does not affect the gastrointestinal mucosa, vomiting may not occur. If in doubt, it is recommended to consult a physician. When the body is infected with the influenza virus, the immune system is activated.

Influenza refers to the flu. Generally speaking, if the influenza virus invades the gastrointestinal mucosa, vomiting may occur; however, if the influenza virus does not affect the gastrointestinal mucosa, vomiting may not occur. If in doubt, it is recommended to consult a physician. Detailed explanation is as follows:

After the human body is infected with the influenza virus, the immune system becomes activated. The influenza virus itself and the toxins it produces spread through the bloodstream. If they irritate the gastrointestinal mucosa, they may disrupt the normal rhythmic contractions of the gastrointestinal tract, causing gastrointestinal spasms and resulting in the backward reflux of stomach contents, thereby causing vomiting. Additionally, during the body's fight against the influenza virus, the immune system releases large amounts of cytokines, which can also affect the neural regulation and blood circulation of the gastrointestinal tract, leading to functional disturbances and causing digestive system adverse reactions such as loss of appetite and nausea with vomiting.

In some patients infected with the influenza virus, the viral invasion mainly remains localized in the respiratory tract without significantly affecting the gastrointestinal mucosa, nerves, or circulation. Therefore, the gastrointestinal tract can maintain relatively normal function, and these patients may not experience vomiting. Such patients may only exhibit typical flu respiratory symptoms such as fever, cough, and sore throat.

In daily life, it is important to maintain personal hygiene by washing hands frequently, using soap or hand wash, and following proper handwashing techniques to rub hands thoroughly to prevent virus transmission via hands.
