Introduction
Foods such as candies, sweetened beverages, and cakes are high in sugar content. Consuming these foods can rapidly elevate blood glucose levels and exacerbate blood sugar fluctuations. Long-term consumption may increase the risk of diabetes complications. Refined carbohydrate staples such as white rice, white bread, and glutinous rice products are quickly digested and absorbed, leading easily to rapid increases in blood glucose. It is recommended to substitute part of these staple foods with low-GI ingredients such as oats, brown rice, and legumes.

Patients with hyperglycemia should generally avoid consuming various refined sugar products, high-GI staple foods, fried foods, processed meats, and high-fructose fruits.

1. Various refined sugar products

Such as candies, sweetened beverages, cakes, and similar items. These foods are high in sugar content and can rapidly elevate blood glucose levels after consumption, worsening blood sugar fluctuations. Long-term intake may increase the risk of diabetes complications.

2. High-GI staple foods

Staple foods such as white rice, white bread, and glutinous rice-based products are quickly digested and absorbed, easily causing rapid increases in blood glucose. It is recommended to substitute part of these staples with low-GI alternatives such as oats, brown rice, and mixed beans.

3. Fried foods

Fried foods like fried chicken, youtiao (fried dough sticks), and French fries are high in calories and contain components that are detrimental to blood glucose control. Long-term consumption may lead to obesity and insulin resistance, negatively affecting blood sugar stability.

4. Processed meats

Processed meats such as sausages, preserved pork, and luncheon meat contain significant amounts of added salt and other additives during processing. A high-salt diet may increase vascular strain and indirectly impair blood glucose control. It is advisable to choose fresh poultry, fish, shrimp, and other sources of high-quality protein.

5. High-fructose fruits

Fruits such as lychees, longans, and sugarcane have high fructose content. Excessive consumption may lead to sugar accumulation in the body and interfere with glucose metabolism. Low-sugar fruits like apples, strawberries, and pomelos can be selected instead, with portion control and consumption scheduled between meals.

Dietary habits should follow the principles of low fat, low salt, low sugar, and high fiber. Consume more fresh vegetables, fruits (low-sugar varieties), and whole grains rich in dietary fiber.
