Introduction
Whether one can eat lychee when experiencing excessive internal heat (referred to as "shang huo" in traditional Chinese medicine) should be determined based on individual physical condition. If the internal heat is mild, a small amount of lychee may generally be consumed. However, if the internal heat is severe, it is not recommended to eat lychee. Patients experiencing excessive internal heat are advised to maintain a light diet, consume more fresh vegetables and fruits such as tomatoes, carrots, and apples, to replenish the body's required water and nutrients, and to help reduce internal heat.

Whether or not one can eat lychee when experiencing excessive internal heat (commonly known as "fireiness" in traditional Chinese medicine) depends on individual body constitution. If the fireiness is mild, lychee may usually be consumed in small amounts. However, if the fireiness is severe, eating lychee is not recommended. Detailed analysis is as follows:

In traditional Chinese medicine, lychee is categorized as a warm-natured food with a sweet and sour taste and a slightly warm property. Fireiness is a general term for various symptoms caused by excessive internal heat, including but not limited to dry mouth and tongue, red eyes, and oral ulcers. If the symptoms of fireiness are mild, such as slight dryness of the mouth and occasional bad breath, and there is no obvious constitution of yin deficiency with fire hyperactivity, lychee may be consumed in small amounts.

However, if there are already severe symptoms of excessive internal heat, such as oral ulcers, swollen and painful gums, or sore throat, which are often caused by improper diet, emotional fluctuations, and other factors, lychee, being a heaty fruit, may easily aggravate internal heat and worsen symptoms. Therefore, individuals with excessive internal heat should avoid eating lychee.

It is recommended that individuals experiencing fireiness maintain a light diet, consume more fresh vegetables and fruits such as tomatoes, carrots, and apples to replenish the body's required water and nutrients and help alleviate internal heat.
