How to Care for Your Hair After Hair Loss

In general, after hair loss, it is recommended to use mild hair care products, control shampooing frequency, reduce damage from high temperatures and chemicals, adjust diet and作息 (作息 should be translated as "lifestyle habits" or "daily routine"), and avoid excessive pulling or tension on the hair. After hair loss, the scalp often becomes sensitive or experiences imbalanced oil production; therefore, strong cleansing products containing sulfates or alcohol should be avoided. Instead, opt for gentle amino acid-based shampoos to clean the scalp.

Generally, after hair loss, one can take measures such as choosing mild hair care products, controlling shampoo frequency, reducing heat and chemical damage, adjusting diet and sleep patterns, and avoiding excessive pulling of hair to care for the hair. A detailed analysis is as follows:

1. Choose Mild Hair Care Products

After hair loss, the scalp often becomes sensitive or experiences imbalanced oil production. Avoid strong cleansing products containing sulfates or alcohol, and instead use gentle amino acid-based shampoos to clean the scalp, reducing irritation to hair follicles. Conditioner should be applied only to the ends of the hair, avoiding the scalp, to prevent clogging of hair follicles and worsening hair loss.

2. Control Shampoo Frequency

The water temperature during shampooing should be around 37°C. Excessively hot water can damage the hair shaft and scalp barrier. The scalp should be gently massaged, avoiding scratching with fingernails to prevent scalp injuries that could lead to inflammation and indirectly worsen hair loss.

3. Reduce Heat and Chemical Damage

Frequent use of hair dryers, curling irons, or bleaching agents can damage the cuticle of the hair shaft, making hair brittle and prone to breakage. It is recommended to air-dry hair after washing. If styling is necessary, set the hair dryer to a low-temperature setting and keep it at least 20 cm away from the hair. Additionally, reduce the frequency of dyeing and perming.

4. Adjust Diet and Sleep Patterns

Hair health depends on adequate nutrition. Deficiencies in protein, iron, zinc, and B vitamins can lead to follicular atrophy. Increase intake of foods such as eggs, lean meats, nuts, and leafy vegetables. Avoid staying up late and maintain regular sleep patterns to support hormonal balance.

5. Avoid Excessive Pulling of Hair

Hair styles such as tight ponytails or buns that continuously pull on hair follicles can cause traction alopecia. Hair follicles are particularly fragile during periods of hair loss. It is advisable to choose looser hairstyles and reduce the tension from hair clips or elastic bands to avoid prolonged pressure on the scalp.
