Introduction
Somatization may present with symptoms such as gastrointestinal discomfort, cardiovascular symptoms, respiratory abnormalities, musculoskeletal pain, and skin or sensory disturbances. These symptoms are often recurrent without clear organic pathology and are commonly associated with psychological stress. If symptoms persistently affect daily life, timely medical consultation is recommended. Common manifestations include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, bloating, acid reflux, and belching.

  1. Gastrointestinal discomfort: Common manifestations include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, bloating, acid reflux, belching, diarrhea, constipation, or significantly reduced appetite. Symptoms resemble those of gastrointestinal diseases, but no corresponding organic lesions are found upon examination. Symptoms may worsen with eating or emotional fluctuations.

  2. Cardiovascular symptoms: These include chest tightness, palpitations, anxiety, shortness of breath, and blood pressure fluctuations. Some patients may experience sharp or pressing chest pain similar to a heart attack, yet tests such as electrocardiograms typically show no significant abnormalities.

  3. Respiratory abnormalities: Symptoms include chest tightness, shortness of breath, rapid breathing, and a sensation of insufficient air, leading to frequent deep breaths or sighing. In severe cases, a feeling of suffocation may occur, but pulmonary examinations fail to identify a clear cause.

  4. Musculoskeletal pain: This often involves generalized muscle aches, joint soreness, and stiffness in the lower back. Pain locations are not fixed, may not be clearly tender upon pressure, and do not consistently improve or worsen with activity. It is unrelated to physical strain or inflammation.

  5. Skin and sensory disturbances: Skin symptoms may include itching, redness, numbness, or burning sensations. Sensory issues can involve dizziness, headaches, blurred vision, tinnitus, or altered taste and smell. Examinations by relevant medical specialties reveal no evidence of organic disease.

Daily management should focus on recognizing the connection between emotions and physical symptoms. Regular exercise helps relieve stress, while maintaining balanced nutrition and a consistent sleep schedule supports overall well-being. Practicing mindfulness and meditation can aid emotional regulation. Avoid excessive focus on bodily sensations to prevent reinforcing symptom perception.
