Introduction
In general, the contagious period of chickenpox begins 1–2 days before the onset of rash and lasts until all skin lesions have completely crusted over, typically spanning 1 to 2 weeks. During this entire period, patients are infectious and must be strictly isolated. Preventing chickenpox requires emphasis on isolation measures; once diagnosed, patients should immediately isolate at home or in a hospital setting until all rashes have crusted. Vaccination against chickenpox is recommended for children and individuals with weakened immune systems.

Under normal circumstances, the contagious period of chickenpox begins 1–2 days before the rash appears and lasts until all skin lesions have completely crusted over. This entire cycle typically lasts 1–2 weeks, during which patients remain infectious and must be strictly isolated. A detailed analysis is as follows:

One to two days before the rash emerges, the virus has already replicated extensively in the patient's respiratory tract and can spread through respiratory droplets or close contact. At this stage, patients may only experience mild symptoms such as low-grade fever or fatigue, or even no noticeable discomfort at all. However, the virus is already capable of transmission. This asymptomatic infectious phase is often overlooked and becomes a major reason for outbreaks within communities.

After the rash appears, the fluid within blisters contains large amounts of virus; direct contact with blister fluid or contaminated clothing, toys, and other objects can lead to infection. Only when all lesions have dried and formed scabs does the virus become inactive, eliminating the risk of transmission. If any lesions remain uncrusted, close contact with others should still be avoided, even if other symptoms have improved.

To prevent chickenpox, isolation measures are crucial. Once diagnosed, patients should immediately begin home or hospital isolation until all rashes have crusted over. Children and individuals with weakened immune systems are advised to receive the chickenpox vaccine. Additionally, routine practices such as frequent handwashing, maintaining good ventilation indoors, and avoiding crowded places are recommended.
